Polyester carpet is one of the most popular carpet materials being installed. Polyester has a luxurious look and is soft to the touch, and it comes in many styles that are available in the softer fibers. It’s an ideal carpet type for low traffic areas like bedrooms or TV rooms. There are many pros and cons of polyester carpet and having it installed in your home.

Pros:

Environmentally Friendly — Polyester is an environmentally friendly carpet. Most polyester carpets are made from recycled plastics like water bottles, and this addition can make the carpet stronger and longer-lasting. It also helps polyester be more stain-resistant and is easily recycled when you’re changing it out. Keep in mind that not all carpets are eco-friendly, so make sure to talk to your salesperson when choosing your carpet to ensure you are getting the kind you want.

Cheaper — Polyester tends to be one of the cheaper options when buying carpet for installation. However, due to its low crush resistance, it may need to be replaced more frequently than other types of carpet, raising the overall costs.

Cons:

Not Resistant to Crushing — Unfortunately, polyester isn’t as resistant to heavy loads as other types of carpet. If you install this carpet in more high traffic areas, it will wear down relatively quickly and lose its texture.

There are many pros and cons of polyester carpet, but if you’re looking for a more budget-friendly carpet to install, polyester is your go-to. Just keep this in mind if you are looking to install it in high-traffic areas.
